Parisa Sabet Sarvestani originally from Iran, currently lives in Chicago. She is pursuing her B.M in music composition at Roosevelt University. She has studied composition with Keith Tedman and Robert Jones at Vanier College in Canada and is currently studying with Stacy Garrop at Roosevelt University. Her piece, Raha, has been performed by the Accessible Contemporary Music ensemble, Palomar, at Ganz Hall. Sabet was also an active pianist while she was living in her hometown of Shiraz. She won awards as a pianist in the Fifth and the Seventh Festivals of Poetry and Music in 1995 and 1997 in Shiraz. Sabet’s works are very lyrical. Most of the themes that she uses in her music are derived from Persian folk songs.
